Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., the parent company of Yokohama Tire Japan, has launched ADVAN Sport V107, a new ultra-high-performance tire that is its global flagship tire, and will be launched worldwide from March 2022. Currently, 30 models from the 305/35R23 111Y XL to the 225/40ZR18 92Y XL are scheduled to be launched in March 2022, bringing the total number of specifications including new models to 43. After that, the number of specifications will be gradually increased, and it is expected that by the end of 2022, the total number of specifications including new models will reach about 80.
The “ADVAN” series is the world-renowned flagship tire brand that drives “YOKOHAMA”, not only providing tires for many luxury models around the world, but also has an excellent lineup of high-performance products and has achieved outstanding results in motorsport. The ADVAN Sport V107 is an upgrade to the ADVAN Sport V105 ultra-high-performance tires and is designed to fit into three luxury vehicles: luxury high-performance cars, luxury high-performance SUVs, and luxury EVs. Since 2019, Yokohama Tire has cooperated with a number of world-renowned premium automobile brands to develop matching tires, and has successively supplied tires for high-performance models such as Mercedes-AMG and BMW M after testing on the Nürburgring track, the “world’s most demanding track”, and other new car matching business centered on special models is also actively developing. The tires launched this time are based on the ADVAN Sport V107 for new vehicles and are an upgraded lineup of passenger car tires for the entire market.
The ADVAN Sport V107 follows the product concept of the ADVAN Sport V105, not only inheriting the V105’s pursuit of “a high balance of sportiness, comfort and safety”, but also further realizing the dry and wet performance and handling stability that surpasses the previous generation of products. The asymmetrical tread pattern of the V107 meets the different performance needs of the inside and outside of the tire, and the new rubber polymer formula incorporates the technical achievements developed in cooperation with luxury car brand manufacturers to develop the matching tire, so that the tire can exert stronger and more powerful grip performance on dry and wet roads. In addition, the V107 not only retains the advanced technology of “matrix carcass structure” used in the “ADVAN Sport V105”, but also improves the handling stability and comfort of high-power luxury cars at high speeds by optimizing tire rigidity and improving the ground connection to a “hill-shaped tread structure”. The sidewall of the V107 adopts a new design in sleek dark colors, realizing a logo visual premium sense in line with the style of the world’s flagship tires. In addition, the V107 will have the “SUV” logo engraved on the tire specifications applicable to SUV models, and in order to convey the charm of this product, the Group plans to hold a global virtual event in February 2022.
Yokohama Rubber’s new medium-term management plan (2021-2023) “Yokohama Transformation 2023 (YX2023)” aims to maximize the sales ratio of high value-added products, namely ADVAN, the global flagship brand ADVAN, the SUV and pickup truck tire brand GEOLANDAR, and various winter tires. In 2022, the Group plans to strengthen sales of summer tires by launching a new high-performance street sports tire “ADVAN NEOVA AD09” in addition to the ADVAN Sport V107 in the ADVAN series.
